Wood fired Open Flame procedures scenario Prior to display- leading to during & throughout full SPFX Burn episode

1. Check and clear the exhibition burn perimeter area, participants, check overhead obstacles etc.

2. Chum and fire starting bait load in bottom as we methodical load wood into Firing chambers to the top

3. 10m prior to the ignition of the wood fired section - dousing the wood fire only fire chambers with liquid paraffin wax to aid in the ignition

4. IGNITE The wood fired chambers will be lit manually at base and center point ignition portals LP hand held torch weed burners

5.The ignition process will also ignite the central heart LPG effect mechanism that will be pilots only at first and the pulsing of the accumulators will begin slowly as the whole piece begins to ignite

6.The heart beat increases as it begins to bellow and fight to burn fully smoke and pulsing flame effects burst from the central heart heavier and heavier flame effect increase as it comes to complete Ignition glowing red hot flames bursting from the two sides of the wood fires chambers

7. A series of flame effect episodes will continue participants will have opportunity to pump the heart beat guided by FX control operator

8. Once the big main wood firing settles to cinder we will lead organized right side / left side reload ritual - participants will line up and take turns log tossing adding their intent, expression log by log shouting or imagining their warranted fiery tidbits of the conceptual hive mind dream time fire.this process is highly monitored by burn team!

9.This will continue throughout a night long till dawn or when we run out of wood & propane type thing

10. Once we run out of wood and the fire cauldron fiery passion settles we will moop all areas around the sculpture and art area burn whats burnable n the lower cinder beds and lock down all apparatus un look all propane lines and pull accumulators etc and control lines from the central unit.and store in Control box lock down on art site till load out end of event

Flame Effects / Wood Fire Scenario 15ft tall 4 ft deep 12ft wide wood fired / flame effect machine made from mild steel and stainless steel. This manually operated device is directed by Charlie Blackcat Smith and controlled by 2 operators and a team of 8 assistants. Wood is loaded into two Wood burn chambers that are 8’tall 18-24 “deep 4.6-5ft wide trapezoid volumes that house the wood to burn- the sculptural fire chambers are supported by four 4’x’4’¼ wall tubes that have a welded 2 x 2x1/4” angle iron  base to base framework that will bolt together using 7/16 #8 hardware

see armature drawings

There is an oval negative space for human heart effigy. There are fire walls and air gap between wood fired and LPG hardware mechanisms and hard piped lines in the base from the ground to the entry of the hearts base - i know this is not your typical fire art piece and is a hybrid machine that i have been proving through my other art pieces on and off playa since 2011-12 see firing procedures drawings for full understanding

Emergency response procedures -Emergency or incident assessed - Site watch crew evacuates spectators; operator turns off all fuel sources by quarter-turn shut-off valves at tanks. Then shut down, bleed all accumulators and feed lines. - Potential use of abc fire extinguisher and or douses with H-2O until the fire is extinguished, - AHJ responders notified to respond .

Means of egress -The exhibition is open and without borders. The direction of evacuating/backing up and moving away from the art space can be done in any direction. Concise directions will be given to the crew and participants if any occurrence prevails.

Flame effect - a human heart effigy (1) manually operated flame effect machine that will operate during the night in segments of time 2 hours increments. Flame effects eject upward from heart ports 8-10 - ft above ground level and jet up 8 ft from ports up into the open sky. Flames will be projected from the effect source reaching a total height no more than 20 ft. The area has zero wires branches and or other obstructions in the immediate vicinity

Flame effect procedures scenario (FX LPG device only )

 Prior to display:

1. Check and clear the exhibition area, check for overhead obstacles etc.

2. Propane Tanks inspected and secured

3. Regulators and hoses attached and secured

4. Master control key activated

5. Testing of all electric systems, hot surface igniters, and actuators

6. Leak test all gas Connections

7. Manually ignite the propane pilot light system only

8. Charge accumulator tanks after  leak test on accumulators

9. Discharge tanks as planned for effects scenario/episode

10 Flame effect scenario /episode / during display

11. Firing episode of methodic heart beat bursts from the Heart,

12 All passive effects are monitored by the effect supervision team

13 End of episodes accumulator tanks turned off and lines bled

14 effects manual Control box shut down n off and secured

15 fuel depot secured and locked down and monitored by assistant

16 Final shut down display:

17. Once the episode is finished, all propane is turned Off

18. Lines bled and accumulators tanks emptied

19. Pilot propane tank turned off once all accumulators are bled and off

20, Doublecheck tanks turned off and lines are bled and disconnected at the end

21. Master key turned off Control box and fuel depot secured and locked down

The Fame Effect machinery will be operated by art project fire team and tenders working under the direction of operator/ director Charlie Blackcat Smith, who will work in direct supervision with the art director, and festival production alongside the State, Federal, and Local Fire Department Fire Marshall Teams, further known as the AHJ. There will be a detailed operations manual for the flame effect devices on site with the art production coordinator that will be present, along with a list of all fuels to be used in an on-site procedures manual. A copy of this manual will be located On-site and readily available to the AHJ upon request by the production coordinator and or operator on set.

General Safety Precautions and Plan: Fuel Source: Propane = for flame effects devise  Stationary propane flame effects machine:

Will be fed from 3 @ 100lb propane tanks that will be rigidly secured together inside of a ventilated structure within the safety perimeter of the flame effect installation (as per direction of AHJ), away from the general public behind a barrier at a distance no less than 30 ft of space between LPG source and Ignition area in sculpture. All tanks will be secured to a rigid structure to maintain vertical orientation during operation and storage. All tanks will be equipped with UL rated industry specified propane rated high pressure120psi. regulators and a manual emergency ¼ turn shutoff valve at regulator feed and accumulator tanks. All hoses and apparatus used will be rated for 750psi LPG. Prior to each operation, a leak test will be performed on all junctions to ensure safe operation. When not in operation mechanisms, the control box and tanks will be disarmed, and the operation control box turn key and lock down Key will be held by the operator and or their assistants.
